FRONTIER PROJECT

PROJECT DETAILS

The Frontier Project deems sustainability a necessity for future generations and has committed to leading the industry by constructing a high-performance learning center. The Frontier Project intends to show how sustainable design can be economic, efficient, and inviting by demonstrating innovations for Southern California living and working environments.

As green building projects evolve in to mainstream, the Frontier Project represents the turning point. Designed to educate, this building brings together functionality, with design creativity and ecology. Once completed, the Frontier Project will serve to educate building and design professionals, as well as the community about green technologies and the building and design choices that can be made to conserve natural resources and energy.

The Frontier Project will feature many sustainable products including the ARXX ICF. ARXX ICF was chosen based on a comprehensive sustainability package offered which included LEED applicability document specific to the project, full technical submittals, local onsite service and support, sub-trade training onsite, and speed of construction attributes. ARXX provided a zero construction waste program for the ICF product on this project.

The ARXX ICF was specified for the South and West facing exterior walls to take the brunt of the summer heat. ARXX ICF was also specified for interior conference room wall for sound quality.

The Frontier Project will also include a photovoltaic system, a sustainable kitchen, renewable materials and an onsite storm water management Cistern. The displays will feature information on each component, and will allow the public to see the benefits first-hand.

ARXX FORMS BENEFITS

REDUCED LIFE-CYCLE COSTS
With virtually no air infiltration, a structure built with ARXX ICF will help reduce the load on HVAC systems, resulting in lower capital costs for
equipment plus lower operating costs for the life-span of the building.

DESIGN FLEXIBILITY
ARXX ICF allows for design creativity as the forms can be easily cut in to any shape – from curved walls to window arches – and any interior and exterior finish can be applied directly to the EPS (expanded polystyrene) panels.

INDOOR AIR QUALITY
ARXX ICF does not contain CFCs, HCFCs,
formaldehyde, asbestos or fiberglass. The EPS used in the forms is completely stable and inert, and it will not break down over time. Improving the quality of the interior air, ARXX ICF does not produce any fumes or gasses once installed.

ENERGY EFFICIENT
ARXX products ensure superior energy-efficiency through high R values, no thermal bridging and greater thermal mass.
